Should you choose ResumeForU or Teal?
Choose based on your next task. Teal is worth considering when you want free PDF downloads and a workspace for managing applications. ResumeForU is worth considering when you want PDF, editable Word and TXT exports for one purchased resume with no subscription. If free PDF export is your deciding factor, Teal has the stronger offer: ResumeForU's free access covers building and previewing, not clean exports.
Disclosure and scope: This article is published by Nodesify, the publisher of ResumeForU. Competitor details come from official Teal documentation checked on 16 October 2026. This is a documented feature comparison, not an independent usability test or a claim that one product improves interview rates.

Exports: start with the employer's requirements
If the posting accepts PDF, either product's documented export can meet that format requirement. The remaining decision is about editing, layout and cost. If the recruiter specifically requests a Word document, native DOCX export becomes a material difference.
ResumeForU's Word file is an editable presentation of the resume content. It does not reproduce the selected PDF template's styling. Check its pagination and spacing in your document editor before sending it. The TXT export is useful for reading or copying content without visual formatting.
Teal's help documentation currently describes PDF-only export. Importing a Word document into an editor is not the same capability as exporting an editable Word file. Avoid choosing a builder on an import feature when your actual requirement concerns the final download.
Converting a PDF into Word adds another transformation to inspect. If editable handoff is part of your regular workflow, decide whether you want to rely on that conversion. Our export survival guide separates text preservation from layout preservation.
For inspectable first-party evidence, the export guide includes original resume PDFs, page images and extracted text from our historical synthetic dataset. These illustrate an extraction issue; they are not current ResumeForU-versus-Teal output samples. We have not performed a controlled export comparison between the two products. Microsoft's PDF-to-Word documentation also explains why converted files may differ from their originals.
Editing: preserve the right version before moving on
ResumeForU supports 20 named job versions within a saved resume. You can preserve a base version, tailor the current content, save a role-specific version and restore an earlier one when needed. Export the version currently loaded in the editor, then keep a local copy with an unambiguous filename. See the step-by-step tailoring workflow.
Teal's building guide describes collecting a comprehensive career history and producing tailored resumes from it. When evaluating that workflow, read its syncing guidance and check which changes affect other resumes. A reusable history is valuable only if you understand what is shared and what stays specific to an application.
For either product, try this small exercise before committing your whole search: enter one real role, create a tailored variation, return to the original and export the intended variation. Check whether you can identify exactly which file you would send. That is a suggested evaluation exercise; we have not run it as a comparative benchmark.
Pricing: compare free access with the features you actually need
Teal+ lists $13 every seven days, $29 every 30 days, or $79 every 90 days. Its free plan includes unlimited resumes and job tracking; paid access expands features such as keyword matching, analysis and AI writing. Check the current plan table for limits before upgrading.
ResumeForU charges once per separately saved resume, with later edits and exports included while the service operates. Named versions remain within that resume's purchase. The purchase is for one person; the name locks after 15 minutes, with support available for genuine corrections. Review the full pricing and purchase scope.
Do not compare a free Teal download against a paid subscription unless you actually need the subscription's extra features. Likewise, do not multiply ResumeForU's price by every job application when those applications use named versions of one purchased resume. The pricing comparison includes worked cost examples.
Job-search tools: decide where you want to manage the work
Teal's documented job-tracking workflow covers saved opportunities, notes and application stages. That makes it a relevant option when your problem is keeping track of a search, rather than only finishing a document. Its export guide also describes connecting a resume to a job and updating that job's status during export.
ResumeForU's named versions help preserve resume variations. They should not be treated as a replacement for a full application tracker. You can pair them with your own spreadsheet or another tracking tool. Record the employer, role, application date and filename you submitted so the saved document remains easy to find before an interview.
A combined setup may suit you: use one tool for files and another for tracking. Include the extra copying and organization in your decision, even if the second tool is free.
Which choice fits these situations?
- You need a free PDF: start with Teal's free builder and inspect the resulting file.
- You need native Word and PDF exports without recurring billing: preview ResumeForU and check the purchase scope.
- You want applications and tailored resumes in one workspace: investigate Teal's tracking workflow.
- You already have a tracking system: focus on the editor and export formats rather than paying for overlapping features.
Neither product's checker can promise an employer's screening decision. Use the exported-text checklist, review the actual upload, and correct application fields when necessary.
